Spring planting outlook: what equipment dealers are seeing
Cautious optimism on the lot — buyers are spending on what they need and holding off on what they want.

As planting season approaches, equipment dealers describe a market running on cautious optimism. Buyers are opening their wallets for the machines and parts they genuinely need, while big discretionary upgrades are getting pushed to next year.
The split tracks with tighter farm margins. Tillage parts, planter refurbishment, and reliable used workhorses are moving well, while shoppers are slower to pull the trigger on premium new iron and nice-to-have technology.
Dealers say the operations doing best are the ones planning ahead — booking service early, sourcing wear parts before the rush, and avoiding the in-season scramble that turns a small repair into a missed planting window. The advice for everyone else: don't wait for the field to dry to find out what your equipment needs.

Refurbing the old planter instead of trading. Margins don't support shiny new this year.
